A Revlation ala Reverand Wright

When the Reverend Wright story broke I just figured this was some guy that finally lost it.  His rantings were the exception not the rule.  Surprise surprise! After watching the O’ Reilly Factor, CNN and an number of other venues I came to realize that I had been duped. I had been accused, indirectly of course, as has most of white America, that I was a racist. We have been bombarded by the likes of the NAACP,  Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for decades. I always took exception to the fact that I was accused of being a racist and responsible for slavery because I was white.  Here’s a news flash, I’m Polish, my grandparents didn’t even come to this country until something 1910. Well after the slave traders were dead and gone. No one in my family ever had anything even remotely to do with slavery. Yet I’m somehow responsible for it. It is a fact that racism exists in this country and like many white Americans I have always tried to be aware of racism and do my part however small, to not contribute to it. But, alas, racism persists and it’s my (white America) fault.

Enter Reverend Wright. The news coverage was very thorough with regard to his rantings. He  obviously has little affection for this country. We all know what was said and how and where it was delivered. Now here the part that opened my eyes. On almost every news show you could find prominent African Americans supporting this guy.  Yes, there were those that railed against him as well.

What was shocking to me about their support and at the same time very enlightening, was the inner workings of the black churches. Their statements, both supporters and detractors, suggested that this is very common in many Black churches. Really! So let me get this straight, for the past few decades the black community has vilified and scorned white America regarding racism while black pastors were feeding it.  We have been lead to believe that we were responsible for it still existing after all these years, in spite of the progress that has been made.  However, now we know that is just might be the black community itself, that has been perpetuating racism. That’s bad enough, but to find out that it being done in the places that are supposed to teach  love of your fellow man, tolerance and forgiveness, is unbelievable. If this is what is taught, even in a relatively small number of churches, then racism in this country will never die.  The black community needs to step up and do its part to combat this outrageous behavior and stop using it’s churches to preach this nonsense. Until it does, don't blame me.

The Democrat myths about the Bush Tax cuts.

I'm sure most conservatives already know this but just for those cool aide drinkers that believe the Democrat rhetoric about how the “Rich” don’t pay enough taxes and should pay more and especially how Bush’s tax cuts were “only for the rich”.  Here is some fascinating information.  In 1999, the Clinton era, the “Rich” (top 10%) were paying around 66.5% of all the taxes and the bottom 10% paid 4% in taxes.  In 2005 the “Rich” paid 70.3% of all the taxes and the bottom 10% paid 3.07%.  The lowest wage earners are actually paying almost a full percentage point less under Bush than under Clinton and the “Rich” paid 4% more under Bush’s tax plan than Clinton’s.  In fact the top 1% actually paid an additional 3% under Bush and the top 50% paid a total of 1 % more under Bush as opposed to Slick Willy’s.  Of course, you will never hear that from Obama or Clinton or any Democrat. They want you to believe that somehow the “Rich” received all the tax breaks and the lower earners are paying the brunt of the taxes.  One more little tidbit, in 2007 a  married couple with two kids and a little over 40K in AGI will pay -0-, that is Zero in taxes (save FICA/Medicare.  So the next time you hear a democrat tell you that the Bush cuts were for the rich and need to be repealed at least you’ll know who’s lying, sorry I mean who misspoke.
